CZ's New Glock Killer?
CZ looks to be set to launch some very strange competition against Glock in the striker fired market, and the Big Beautiful Bill has passed. We’re going to talk about this and more on today’s episode of the Cap & Ball Saloon!

CZ’s Cooking up something with a new patent
US20250198714A1 – A firearm – Google Patents
https://x.com/556timeline/status/1939480053072429068
- Huge hat tip to Daniel Watters for finding this, seriously, go check out him @556Timeline on X.
- CZ is cooking up another polymer striker fired pistol it looks like and I can already hear the crowd start wondering why they should care.
- Well this is a breechblock delayed design, not your standard tilting browning action for starters
- Next we have the bore axis, it’s very low, reminds me of what the Laugo Alien was doing, but we have some other claims from the patent that are interesting
- “In a pistol with a steel frame and a plastic grip handle, the centre of mass of the non-moving part of the gun is situated very frontally and high, i.e., closer to the centre of mass of the recoiling masses, and their impact thus causes a lower torque raising the barrel upwards.”
- So in theory this would be an incredibly flat shooting and soft recoiling pistol.
- The drawing does not indicate if it is going to have an RDS cut, but its possible that if some more material was added to the slide then it might be able to mount one.
- Finally the design seems to have a manual safety on the side, interesting choice for a striker fired pistol, but not crazy if the striker and trigger system is not going to be derived from the Glock safe action system that’s been so dominant for so long.
- I have a filing date on this of March 3rd, 2022, so it’s possible that this could be production ready in the near future if CZ is not planning on sitting on this design.
PAMax LION device and some updates on the FryTech Buffer system.
L.I.O.N. V1 Blank Firing Device – Black – PAMAX Tactical
MICULEK MAGNETIC BUFFER SYSTEM – MICULEK.COM
- Previously I’ve talked about the changes to the regulations around simunitions and their barrels, so with that in mind I wanted to follow up on that with another product to go with your simunitions training.
- The PAMax LION device. It’s a simulated flash bang that uses primers to create a bang up to 150 decibels.
- The perfect addition to your force on force training or as they put it in the promotional video, annoying your in laws.
- PAMax is the company working with FryTech to bring Fry’s magnetic buffer system to market. I’ve spoken with Fry about this project, and again I’m very interested as Fry Tells me that PAMax has experience working with LEO and Military contracts.
- As for Fry’s magnetic buffer system, I’ve been told by Fry that they are working on making it mil spec and aiming for a roughly $130 final price point and have in house machining capabilities.
- That’s less than the only other competing system on the market that I’m aware of that try to do similar things in terms of buffer design.
- I should hasten to point out that, Fry is the one with an actual patent on this type of system, and is working to adapt the concept for additional platforms.
- So I expect to see a lot more from Fry and PAMax in the future with his magnetic buffer system designs. So far I see demonstrations that this is a superior option, an experienced company working on manufacturing, and a driven inventor making something cool. So I’m looking forward to Fry’s new buffer system and what he comes up with next.
One Big Beautiful Cop-Out
Gun groups plan lawsuits to end National Firearms Act in wake of ‘big, beautiful bill’
How Gun Owners of America Sabotaged Deregulating SBR’s & Suppressors
- Well guys, the OBBB is signed, and for those of us in the 2A space we have a lot to talk about.
- It seems that the back stab is in and that odious idea of having a $0 tax stamp is in and staying as part of the bill.
- Instead of the 2A victory that we should have gotten we get a ridiculous non change that 2A activists were never worried about.
- Now I’m concerned that we may see attempts to move the tax stamp cost in the OPPOSITE direction. The GOP just proved that they can get away with making it zero, why can’t the Dems make it $2000, or $200k?
- They just opened pandoras box on this one instead of giving us back our rights.
- As much good as this bill is going to do, I’m NOT happy about this.
- Ok, you may remember there was a lot of speculation about Silencer Central and the first time this version of a $0 tax stamp was introduced.
- At that time and currently I don’t see the evidence for them being at fault. But someone, or some organization is more than happy to have seen this go through.
- Now the American Firearms Association is pointing fingers at Gun Owners of America for letting this happen. Now you can go watch that video if you want to but I unfortunately, can believe it.
- Here’s why – There’s a ton of money to be scooped up in lobbying, and “fighting” for something. Doesn’t really matter what the cause is but if you have an entire organization that depends on donations and cash flowing in to fight for the things that you say you are fighting for what happens when it’s over? You got the big win now what. Well to you and me, hey we go home and enjoy our rights, but for the organization and everyone raking in donations they’re out of a job. Yeah, smaller battles will probably exist but the big bucks, fighting those federal fights in DC? Yeah that’s gone.
- While I can’t say yes this is exactly what happened, I do remain skeptical of lobbies, even ones I WANT to support because at the end of the day they have an interest in not winning but almost winning where they can say we’ll get em next time.
- But it appears to be lawsuit time again.
- Apparently GOA and a number of other organizations are already launching a lawsuit to strike down the NFA because of the $0 provision, arguing that the supreme court only OK’d the NFA as a tax and nothing else. If the tax is zero they are arguing, then you can’t still have the NFA.
- This could be a galaxy brained move, get the tax stamp down to zero and win in court, but I’d argue that the better route was already in front of us with total removal at the legislative level.
- Only time will tell and while I’m happy that something is already happening, this suit should not have to exist.
- Wrapping up here I do want to say one thing. Despite everything now is not the time to black pill, yes I have massive problems with what got passed into law and I think we have good reason to be worried, but I’ll truly black pill when every American is six feet under, I’ll black pill when the constitution has been burnt to ash in public to the applause of the masses, this fight is not done, we are not done, and while I’m more than happy to share my misgivings, that’s not and never will be permission to black pill.
- On the business side of things, it’s likely that we will see an increase in sales for NFA items, possibly increased competition and cost reduction. So it won’t be the gold rush that we were hoping for, it is something that will likely give suppressor manufacturers, and open up a wider market for SBR’s and SBS’s. So I’d start gearing up now for a bump in demand once this hits next year.
- One last thing, if you are a regular shooter. Please understand, the bill made the tax stamp ZERO dollars on SBR’s, SBS’s and Suppressors, it DID NOT kill the registration process. So for the love of god please don’t pester your Local Gun Store with a bunch of BS about how you don’t have to go through the NFA process anymore.
2A Lawsuit Updates
Why Did B&T Just Sue Surefire? Interview with B&T CEO Karl Brügger
- So we got some more details around the B&T vs Surefire suit.
- I covered this previously, but B&T CEO Karl Brügger sat down with James Reeves to talk about it.
- The cliff notes version is that B&T made an A2 flash hider mounting system, surefire copied it, and they had an agreement not to fight over it. Well according to B&T Surefire went back on that and now B&T is forced to defend themselves in court.
- I’d be curious to see what Surefire’s defense looks like, but if the patent dates are correct then B&T might just have a slam dunk case.
- There’s not much more to this for the moment, but right now B&T are coming off as reasonable, despite the fact that they initiated the law suit. I’ll keep updating this story as more comes out.
Streamlight, Inc v Harbor Freight Tools USA, Inc
- So streamlight got upset at harbor freight for their TLR-1 knock off.
- Short version is the Harbor Freight one that the internet has been going crazy for was only different in terms of the engraving. So Streamlight went to court and filed suit.
- So the Harbor freight version of the TLR-1 may be disappearing from store shelves even faster. I’d imagine that another, tweaked knock off is on it’s way already and some comments suggest that this is already the case. If Harbor Freight does loose this I’d imagine they won’t be too sad if the sales figures are what I’d expect them to be from the sheer level of interest that I have seen online.
- Harbor freight could pretty easily tweak the case of their flashlight a bit more, keep the TLR-1 holster compatibility and carry on.
Rare Breed Triggers sues 16 Defendants over…. ?
- Rare Breed is doing exactly what I was afraid they would do
- If you have been following Stamboulieh Law’s coverage then you’ll know about the 8 or 9 cases that they have filed so far. It’s nuts and while I’m more than happy to see them defend their patent, I again say that this seems more like an attempt to kill the FRT market for anyone other than Rare Breed.
- Check out Stambouleth Law on YouTube for more details, but right now I’m concerned tha they are again, doing what the ATF would have a hard time doing, stifling the market for FRT’s. Which is a shame because John over at Gun.Deals recently finished a long term review of the Rare Breed FRT and they are apparently the superior option on the market. The quality of their product is not the issue, it’s the government permission slip they have to be patent trolls.
Rest in Peace Anderson Manufacturing
Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. Announces Asset Purchase of Anderson Manufacturing | Tactical Wire
- Last but not least we have the announcement of the end of Anderson Manufacturing.
- In an announcement last week Ruger has bought out Anderson Manufacturing
- The brand and it’s products are being retired so for those of you with Anderson parts, your warranties, unfortunately have run out.
- But there is some good news as it sounds like most of the rank and file at Anderson will be staying onboard.
- Todd Seyfert, President and CEO of Ruger. “We’re excited to welcome members from the talented team at Anderson Manufacturing and leverage their knowledge and infrastructure to better serve our customers.”
- While Anderson may have been the poverty pony, I still apricate brands trying to bring firearms down to an affordable price point and while it’s sad to see the brand go away, at least it is being bought by another firearms company, it’s likely that most of the rank and file employees will be sticking around, at lease based on Seyfert’s statement, and they are not just shutting down, but the manufacturing capacity will continue to be used.
Keyword Research for Your Gun Store the Right Way and Knowing your Customer As An FFL
- For this final section we’ll be going through several buyer personas and some of their needs as a customer. Depending on what your offering only a few or all of these personas might be applicable to you.
- But my goal in presenting these is to get you to think about your ideal customer, who do you want to be selling to and what kinds of pain points are you and your products addressing for them?
No ICE for SIG
ICE Just Deported The P320 – Here’s Their New Pistol
The FBI P320 Files (World Exclusive)
- SIG just keeps digging that hole without even trying anymore
- Again, I don’t want to hate SIG, but the evidence of issues with the P320 keep piling up.
- There’s a new video out and running around that is supposed to show a P320 going off when carried appendix, with predictable results, but I’m far more interested in the other news around the P320.
- First we have a report from the FBI after testing was done on a P320 that had an Uncommanded Discharge. The report conclusion reads –
- “A reliable test could not be developed at the time of this document to test the effectivenessof the secondary sear notch. However, testing did indicate with movements representing those common to a law enforcement officer it is possible to render the Striker Safety Lock inoperable and ineffective at preventing the striker from impacting a chambered round if complete sear engagement is lost. It is important to note that the Striker Safety Lock, by design, is the last safety in line to prevent an unintended discharge as it is in place to protect against a secondary sear notch override. While examination of the subject weapon did not independently provide evidence of an uncommanded discharge it does indicate that it may be possible if sear engagement is lost. The disabling of the striker safety lock through movement and friction creates a condition which merits further exploration to fully assess potential risk.”
- Is this a smoking gun? Not exactly, but again, I’m not concerned about the P320 having issues, I’m concerned that SIG is having a very hard time admitting it.
- I maintain that this would have been a non-story if they had just gotten ahead of this and been more open about potential issues when swapping calibers.
